Discussion:
Copy User-defs from HOD V6 to V8
(too old to reply)

Hi,
I have to copy user-definitions from an old V6-HOD to a new server (running
HOD V8). For V8 I learned, that I can generate an .XML-File from the
User-Defs by the directory utility.
But the directory utility, that came with V6, seems to be *without* the
function to generate an XML-File.

So do you have any idea, how I can bring definitions of some 100 users to
the new system? (As there are only a few groups and sessions defined, it's
no problem to copy these "by hand".)

Thanks for any help!

Take a look at the Upgrading the Host On-Demand server on HATS 8
Infocenter:

When upgrading the Host On-Demand server, the following basic steps
minimize migration risks, and provide a transparent upgrade experience
for your users:

1. Back up all of your customized Host On-Demand files (those making
up your private directory, as well as modified or newly created files in
the publish directory)
2. Perform the upgrade
3. Redeploy your customized files

You did not specify if the HOD V6 system used the Configuration Server
model or the HTML model. It is real easy with the Configuration Server
model. Simply copy the Private directory to the new installation.

Juanma Martinez solution works for the HTML model.
